RENY award to support hydroponic gardening project
Students will study plant growth, nutrition, and sustainability with a hydroponic classroom system
PLATTSBURGH | The Retired Educators of New York (RENY) Educator Awards Committee has announced the 2024 NEZ (Northeastern Zone) Kramer Memorial Educator Award winner.
Jennifer Haley of Champlain Valley Educational Services: Rise Center for Success will receive a $500 grant to support a classroom project: “Growing Minds: A Hydroponic Journey for Students,” during the 2024-2025 school year. She will purchase a hydroponic system that will provide hands-on learning experiences for her students and enhance skills such as scientific inquiry, problem-solving, collaboration, responsibility, sustainability, and entrepreneurship.

The NEZ Kramer Memorial Educator Award is given in honor of Dr. Karl Kramer, former professor and mentor to education majors at SUNY Plattsburgh. He was a longtime, devoted member of the Northeastern Zone of RENY. Area educators who work in school districts within the NEZ Zone are invited to watch for media and school district announcements related to annual awards offered by RENY and the Northeastern Zone in February or March each year.
